Abstract
Abstract: First language (L1) plays important role in second language (L2) learning. Maybe used in language of instruction, especially to very early learners, L1 also helps and shape learners’ understanding. One with good L1 basis will benefit in the process. Transfer of language and meaning will be faster than the non. Contradictorily, one may also receive negative impact from his L1 when learning L2. Poor L1 knowledge, grammar and vocabulary, maybe to blame for the matter. However, as dominant language shifts based on one language use and preferences, influence may also moves. One with L2 dominant language may find his new language easier to comprehend in term of speaking, reading or writing. Keywords: First Language, Second Language, Language Learning
