Abstract

Building’s damage caused by the earthquake is conventionally can be prevented by strengthening structures against earthquake forces acting on it. Consequently, if there is a big earthquake then the building could not withstand lateral forces caused by the earthquake, so that the building will be damaged. That's necessary measures to minimize the damage caused by the earthquake. One way is to use the base isolator. Base Isolator systems to protect the building from severe damage during a large earthquake occurs. This study was conducted to compare the performance of the structure in the use of base isolators with the isolator without using the base, the dual system of the building, the 10th floor level, irregular shape, both in buildings SRPMK (bearer of a special moment frame structure) and shear wall buildings. It is comparable period in the form of structures, shear force (base shear) longitudinal and transverse direction, the deviation between floors of a building (interstory drift), and the lateral displacement of the building (displacement) caused by the earthquake. Data analysis was performed with the help of computer software SAP2000. Loading on the building based on a reinforced concrete building regulations and dynamic analysis Time History Analysis Capital structure in Planning Procedures for Earthquake Resistance of Building Structures and Non- Building (SNI 1726:2012). From these results it can be seen that the use of base isolators enlarge the natural period. Values on SRPMK period, SRPMK base isolators, wall shear and wall shear magnitude insulator base row 0.781 seconds, 1.797 seconds, 0.988 seconds and 2.465 seconds. This causes the seismic work force becomes smaller.
