Abstract

Reintegration and socio-economic transformation of ex combatants and conflict victims is the biggest homework to be done post-conflict era. Otherwise, an area that has just managed to organize peace is vulnerable to falling back into vortex of new conflict that is possibly even deeper and more complex. Based on the study in a group of ex combatants of the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) in SagoeTeungku Chiek Di Moen Lhoek Simpang Keuramat, North Aceh Indonesia, this artikel would to show the complexity of the practice of reintegration and socio-economic transformation for ex-combatants of the Free Aceh Movement and civilian conflict victims. Interestingly, unlike most ex conflict regions, reintegration and social transformation for ex combatants and conflict victims in North Aceh was acted directly by ex commander of the Free Aceh Movement. The motivation to prosper ex combatants and conflict victims that go hand in hand with the effectiveness of empowerment organizations with command system encourages the revenue growth of their economy. However, lack of awareness and support from government in strengthening infrastructure has implication to poor crop marketing that the sustainability of reintegration and social transformation is experiencing ups and downs.
