Abstract

Metal cutting process is one of the complex processes which have numerous factors contributing towards the quality of the finished product. Turning is one among the metal cutting process in which quality of the finished product depends on the tool geometry, accuracy of machine tool and cutting condition. The research was done to optimized cutting parameters in turning of pure aluminium based on surface roughness using uncoated carbide tool in dry cutting condition. Three cutting parameter such as cutting speed, feed and depth of cut at two-level was planned using design of experiment methodology. The relationship between cutting parameters and surface roughness were discussed.
