Abstract

In the past, Olympic Games was an international events which helped to enhance the image, economy and development of a country. As Beijing hosted the Olympic Games in year 2008, this study aimed to find out what are the changes of China nation image in the context of western media before and during the Olympic Games period. By applying the content analysis method, 90 articles from the BBC News UK online database were chosen randomly for analysis. The result showed that both negative and positive images could be found in the reports. Besides, the findings indicated the increasing status of China in the world and its openness to the mass media influenced its nation image in other countries.
