Abstract

In this study the author would like to review research that started seldom discussed by contemporary of economic scholars, namely as the qualitative research related to previous ulama thought about the Islamic economy. Here the author tried to assess the thought of andalusian philosopher Ibn Tufail. In research, participation philosophy shaping economic as a scientific discipline is part of the history of the development of economic thought, particularly the Islamic economy. Research taken from the work of his famous philosophical novel with the title of "Hayy ibn Yaqzan" with the simplest sense meaningful Life son of Awareness. Details of the research objective is expected to deliver a more in-depth knowledge about the essence of Islamic economic thought. Type of research will be used in this article is a literature review (Library research), that explore and search the data or information that is required through written materials such as books, journals, papers or other scholarly works which contain additional information about the object of study or other supporting information. This research uses descriptive method of analysis, research trying to explain or elaborate on specifics of Islamic economic thought in the story of Hayy ibn Yaqzan.
